Sydney moved to New York in middle school, where she attended the New York Summer School of the Arts summer intensive. She would later move to Fort Worth, Texas, to attend the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts her junior and senior years of highschool.
She is currently working on her BFA in art at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. She is a multi-media artist but primarily creates digital art and animations.
She is the author and illustrator of LOVEBITES, a serise of post-apocalyptic graphic novels she published after raising $26,065 on Kickstarter.
She is the creative director of HABROMANIA, an Alice in Wonderland inspired point-and-click game with a demo currently in development. She oversees several artists, animators, and programmers, and posts the progress on her primary social media account (@symphony_sonata on instagram, with 237k followers )
Sydney enjoys art (obviously), drawing big-eyed, homicidal children, playing guitar, video games, spending time with her family, recreational crying, and talking about herself in the third person.
MY ART
is like an ice cream parlor caught on fire. It smells like gasoline and melting cotton candy.
Even as a little girl, I was drawn to the macabre and the conflicting human capacity for love and kindness as well as cruelty, corruption, and brutality. Despite the morbid themes, my work maintains a playful quality and an often darkly humorous tone. I connect childhood innocence, imagination, and joy with violence and destruction through my use of stylized figures, bold lines, and bleak environments.
As a digital artist and animator, I am interested in the convergence of narrative and the visual arts. The scenes I paint often draw inspiration from myth, folklore, and historical events, particularly emphasizing themes related to grief, feminine rage, the gaze, and gendered injustice.
My art is rooted in duality and balance, influenced by my fascination with human nature, history, and the delicate relationship between civilization and violence.
